F A Ford moved to Katandra in 1876 and by 1881 he had built a weatherboard house and cropped 160 acres on his selection of 319 acres named "Gorserella".  That year he also had an accident and put him out of action for 4 months. 

"Gorserella" was a centre of many community activities and musical evenings.
