Family Memories

After Janet's death in 1928, William married again in about 1929/1930 to Bertha LUTTGENS (nee HENRY), aged 52 years at Mordialloc. (Bertha's husband had died in a boating accident in 1923).

In the 1931 Voters List, William is still noted as living at Katandra as a farmer and Bertha is living at 81 Barkly Street Mordialloc, Victoria, presumably with her youngest two children.

The death has occurred at the age of 80 years of Mr William Henry Ford one of the oldest pioneers of Katandra.  Mr Ford came to Australia with his parents from Wales 75 years ago, and settled in Avenel.  At the age of about 31 he took up 1,800 acres of land at Katandra and after clearing it of most of the heavy timber with which it was then covered, went in for wheat and sheep.  He married Miss Donaldson of Mansfield and they brought up a family of 4 sons and 2 daughters.  Mrs Ford died some years ago and the late Mr Ford married Miss Mudgen of Mordialloc.  He was well known in Katandra district as a man who took an active interest in affairs affecting the well fair of the community and was for many years a councillor of Tungamah Shire  The funeral took place at Katandra Cemetery on Thursday afternoon in the presents of a great many relatives and friends.

On the 31st January (suddenly) at Mordialloc William Henry (late of Shepparton). Dearly beloved husband of Bertha FORD and loving stepfather of Frank, Edith (Mrs Bryon) Dorothy (Mrs Marshall) Bertha (Mrs Cary) Lorna Joyce and Val.  Aged 80 years.

On the 31st January at his residence "Safrano" Barkley St Mordialloc William Henry beloved husband of Bertha and loving father of Florence (Mrs Doney) dec. William, Aged 80 years.  Late of "Lillybank" Katandra.

Friends of the late W H Ford "Safrano" Barkley Street Mordialloc are respectfully invited to follow his remains to the place of internment the Katandra Cemetery.  The funeral with leave the residence of his son (Mr Garnet Ford) Katamatite via Shepparton this day Thursday 2nd February at 1 o'clock.
