Family Memories

It is difficult to confirm the birth of our John Ford, however in the Parish Records for Prestbury, John, son of John Fford was baptised on 16 January 1703.

Also on the parish registers, a Marriage is registered as follows (which could also be our John):

John FORD of the parish of Mobberley, occupation - taylor and Martha NOBURY (possible mis-spelt NORBURY) of the parish of Alderley were married at Mobberley on November 9th 1724 by Certificate from M Humphrey, Curate of Alderley. It is difficult to find the parents of his wife Martha as she was not baptised until after her marriage and birth of their first child Martha. On the parish register it is noted:

Martha, wife of John FORD of Warford, taylor was baptised on 26th September 1725 aged about 25 years.

John's occupation on the birth of his children is also recorded as taylor.  It is possible that he was also a farmer and most farmers had another trade at this period of time.

It is also difficult to find the death of John Ford, according to a family tree previously completed, he died in 1782, but no record of this has been found. We would assume that he was buried in Mobberley, the district where he was married and his children were born, but no record has been located to date.
