ABOUT US:

  • Thomas FORD & Eliza Ann BATE arrived in Victoria, Australia in 1858 immigrating from Cheshire England
  • There are now thousands of direct descendants living in Australia.
  • The Ford Family Committee was formed by several of these descendants.

THE ROLE OF THE FORD FAMILY COMMITTEE IS TO:

  • Collect, research and preserve the Ford Family History for future generations.
  • Organise and host the Ford Family reunions at Katandra to bring the family together and to share our heritage.
  • To care for and maintain the graves of the Ford's extended family at the Katandra Cemetery.
  • Manage a fund established to help finance the restoration of any headstones or graves needing repair.
  • Set up and manage the "Fords of Katandra" Family Website

OUR AIM FOR www.fordsofkatandra.com IS TO:

  • Collaborate all of our history already collected by the Committee
  • Invite other family members to share their knowledge.

As with all family trees, there is missing information,
photos left in dark cupboards and lost family stories.

We would be delighted to receive any information,
stories, photos, newpaper articles or obituaries etc
to complete our history.

Most importantly, please point out any errors or omissions
so we can make the necessary corrections.

Your contributions would be greatly appreciated

we see the past, present and future" - Gail Lumet Buckley

FORDS OF KATANDRA KHAKI NAVIGATION OF THIS SITE:

Thomas and Eliza FORD had 9 surviving children.

When you attend a Ford Family re-union, you are
allocated a colour-coded name tag, depending on
which one of these children you are descended from.
For example: if your great grand-father was Joseph
Herbert
, you would be wearing a light-blue name tag.

To assist with your navigation of this website,
we have colour-coded the webpages

(see table to the left).

So if you find yourself on a yellow page for example -
you are looking at a descendant of Frederick Arthur.

The First generation to live at Katandra have khaki
coloured pages with their descendant's coloured stripe.

(For example: Eliza Ann has a khaki page with a pink
stripe).

Anyone who married into the Ford family has a grey
page with a coloured stripe corresponding to their
spouse's page. (For example: William Henry's wife
would have a grey page with a red stripe).

If you are looking for a particular person, you can use
the search box on every-page, or go to the descendant
or ancestor charts and click on their name.

We have also included Thomas Ford's nephew, Edward
(son of his eldest brother Joseph) on this website.

Edward and his wife Emma (nee ALLMAN) sailed to
Australia on or about 13 January 1912 on the
"SS Norseman" with all children except Ethel & Percy.
This family has white pages.

Two of Edward's children married grand-children of
Thomas & Eliza.

We have not listed living descendants on this website,

please contact us by email if you require any further
information.
