Family Memories

Unfortunately Martha was not baptised as a child as far as we can ascertain, so it  is difficult to determine her parent's names.

The first record we can locate is the Cheshire Parish Record of marriages to Joseph FORD.

John FORD of the parish of Mobberley, taylor and Martha NOBURY of the parish of Alderley were married at Mobberley November 9th 1724 by Certificate from M Humphrey, Curate of Alderley.

John and Martha FORD had their first child Martha baptised on 20th September 1725 at Mobberley. The Parish Records state:
Martha, daughter of John Fford of Warford, Tayler and Martha his wife, Bapt Sept 20th 1725.

Six days later, Martha herself is baptised. The Christenings of 1725 are noted in the Mobberley Parish Records as:

Martha, wife of John Fford of Warford, Taylor, Bapt Sept 26th 1725 aged about 25 years.

According to a previous family tree, Martha's died in 1780, however we can find no record of this. The Parish Records do record the following burial, which could be either Martha or her daughter Martha:

Martha FORD of Mobberley buried April 21, 1773.
